Alternate care

As more people become active partners in their treatment, interest in alternative medicine has grown. A survey released in May 2004 conducted by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Center for Health Statistics found that in 2002, 36 percent of U.S. adults were using some form of complementary and alternative medicine.
While complementary and alternative treatments are becoming more common, it is important to note that to date they have not been tested and studied to the same extent as conventional medical treatments.
The information in this section is not meant to encourage treatment of your psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis on your own. Check with your doctor before beginning any new treatment. And always make sure your doctor is aware of any natural or herbal product (including vitamins and supplements) you are using, as some may interact with prescription medications.
